State Winner of the prestigious AIRAH award for Excellence in
Energy June 2004
Amidst an overwhelming list of high quality entries for the 2004 Excellence Energy category MGF Consultants (NQ) were honored for their achievements in the energy efficient mechanical services design for William Mc Cormack Place situated in Cairns NQ.
The project was a collaboration of the client, Queensland Department of Public Works, and MGF Consultants (NQ) which culminated in the design of an outstanding package of mechanical services for the building which exceeded the expectations of the client for a 4 star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating ABGR, and delivered a 5 Star ABGR through the use of advanced technologies and a proactive approach to the use of existing technologies to achieve a building which was at the forefront of energy efficient design and a benchmark for future as the first commercial office building of its kind to achieve the 5 star rating. The project was delivered on time and on budget proving that smart design does not necessarily mean increased project costs.
